my aluminum cake pans were in a fire, What do I use to clean them and still be able to bake in them?
my collector aluminum cake pans have fire residue on them, I want to salvage the pans so that I can bake in them. What can I do to clean them with out destroying the integrity of the pan? Some of the pans are 40+ years old, signed the cakelady
you have’nt said what you have done so far? in the first place DON’T use oven cleaner, aluminum is a soft metal and oven cleaner will etch it. i guess i would try soaking them with a real strong degreaser, like DAWN or some other brand that you’re familure with, let them soak for 2-3 days. try scrubbing very lightly. you maybe could use a brillo pad, but that might scratch too. in the meantime i’ll keep thinking of something else that you could use. just had a thought, try some “silver polish”. i’m sure that it wont scratch, it’s used on silver for tarnish, it should work. let me know if you can,susyq47
