Both of my horses facial hair seems to be thinning out in some spots, and my little pony is biting her flanks?
Also my pony is scratching her neck so much that the fur has gone and it is beginning to look really sore. They are both wormed, eatting and drinking fine seem perfectly healthy apart from their facial hair seems to be thinning and the pony is scratching and biting her flanks
the problem could be lice and this is a good place to start. if you are pretty sure it is not lice it could be an allergic reaction to a fly spray or to the shampoo you are using or you may have washed them to often and now they have dry skin. if you blanket your horses then changing the laundry detergent could cause a reaction as well but not very likely. if you don’t wash your horses it is possible that they have a build up of dirt and other stuff that is causing them to Itch. do some checking and see if it could be any of these things things that have been mentioned (except strangles). if you don’t find anything then you should call your vet and ask him to have a look at the horses.
